DIY Snowy Glittered Photo Ornaments

Today I am sharing my favorite Christmas DIY project! I’ve seen photo ornaments all over Pinterest this year and I wanted to create some that would match my Christmas tree theme. I have a white flocked tree with accents of silver, white, and gold. I decided that I would create an ornament that incorporated snow and glitter and I’m sharing how I did it in this post.

What You Need:

Photo Paper
Clear Ornaments (with removable top)
Glitter Confetti
Faux Snow
Ribbon

First, start off by measuring a line straight across your ornament. My ornaments measured approximately 3.75 inches wide. This will give you the dimension for the widest part of your photo. The photo needs to be larger than the ornament measurement so that there is room to cut a circle without having any white paper space shown.

I used Photoshop to draw a circle in the dimension that I needed for a template. You can trace a glass or something that is similar to the size that you need. Once you have your circle template cut out, place it over each photo and cut around it. Instead of cutting around the entire circle, I left a small square piece at the top of each of my photos. This allowed me to place the photo inside of my ornament but also left a piece sticking up at the top to keep the photo from moving inside of the ornament.

Carefully roll each of your photos up and place them inside of your ornament.

You can see the small square piece sticking out of the top in the photo above. Without it, the photo tends to move around a lot when it’s filled with snow and glitter confetti.

If you place your ornament inside of a glass, it keeps it from moving around and makes it much easier to fill with snow and glitter.

I filled my ornaments with snow first and then followed it with glitter confetti.

When it’s time to put the top back on the ornaments, make sure that the wire piece is placed in the back of the photo. Doing this helps to keep the photo still and keeps it from being visible when the ornament is hung.

You can choose to use a ribbon or a hook to hang your ornament. I tied a small 3/4 inch ribbon on each of my ornaments to hang them. I also made bows out of 1.5 inch ribbon to add as decoration.
